For getting up around 7 this morning, it's sure taken me a long to get my brain out of slug mode. I wasn't shorted on sleep by all that much either. I blame my allergies. Sinus congestion, body contracting sneezes, flooding nose, and puffy eyes go against alertness. Bleagh.

I'm starting to feel better for the day, but since I need to go jump into the short story I thought up the other day, you aren't getting much today. Sorry. But here's my reading list update:

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner - read (see review from last week)
The Art and Craft of the Short Story by Rick DeMarinis - currently reading, almost done
How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy by Orson Scott Card - read, not bad but better for a fledgling writer. I've already learned most of what he shared in this book. Good information and well presented though.
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke - currently reading, up to Chapter 3

I just bought The Mermaid's Madness yesterday (along with Red Hood's Revenge), so I'll be getting to that soon. And for October's (unpublished) reading list, I put Blue Fire by Janice Hardy on preorder. Yeah! But I've still got several books to get through for this month still if I want to finish them all.

Oh man. I got up at about 6:00 this morning and thought I was going to pass out. I really needed some caffeine. Too bad caffeine doesn't really work on me. :o

Let me know what you think of Inkheart! I've been thinking of getting it, but funds are low enough for me to be cautious about what I buy.

I enjoyed Inkheart and Inkspell,. I haven't read the third one, Inkdeath yet. While neither of them were the best thing I've ever read, I obviously enjoyed them enough to keep on going.
The movie, while not all that great, was surprisingly ok, mostly because of two very good performances: Andy Serkis (Gollum) as Capricorn, and my favorite character from the book, Dustfinger, portrayed by one of my favorite actors, Paul Bettany.
The fact that Bettany's real-life wife, the ever-wonderful Jennifer Connelly, has a cameo in it doesn't hurt anything, either. ;)

I'm up to chapter 19 now in Inkheart. I don't like it enough to buy it-thank you library-but it is an interesting concept story.

Jaleh, I just found a new dragon-focused adult fantasy series by a 2010 debut author. Check out THE ADAMANTINE PALACE by Stephen Deas (The Memory of Flames, Book One). I'm four chapters into it so far, and I'm totally hooked. The writing style makes for a quick read, but you still feel immersed in a fantasy world. I'd love to know what you think of it.

Thanks, Lydia. I'll have to put that on October's list. I love checking out new dragon stories.

I got up late this morning and worked steadily throughout the day on doing two things that should have been done in one hour. I didn't get any reading done or even my workout. So it looks to me like you're in better shape than I am.
