No, I'm not done with Firefly yet. There is more I want to say about it if I can get my head wrapped around words enough to describe why it's so moving to me. For now, here are Mal's Song, a filk written about the show specifically, and Believe In You, a song from another show's soundtrack but fits Firefly just as beautifully. Both of these songs give me chills.

Mal's Song

Believe In You (as a Browncoat Anthem)

Hi Jaleh

*High Five* to a kindred spirit!!

Like you, I find myself carried away by firefly every time I watch it. In it we see all that is best in humanity triumph over all that is worst ... and yet the best is held in such fragile, flawed vessels. These outcasts on the very fringes of society are noble, warm and oh so lovable rogues. I guess it is all summed up in the very last lines of the whole shiny shindig

Mal: "Ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. Know what the first rule of flying is? Well I s'pose you do, since you already know what I'm 'bout to say."

River: "I do. But I like to hear you say it."

Mal: "Love. Can know all the math in the 'verse but take a boat in the air that you don't love? She'll shake you off just as sure as a turn in the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down...tell you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens...makes her a home."

I'm going to have to go and watch the whole series again now!

Firefly hooked me right from the train heist. I thought, "How cool is that to combine an old fashioned train heist with space ships?" Then the characters grabbed me and have never let go. I've never gotten heavy into the fandom crowd, but I understand the passion. There is something truly special that not even Fox's cancellation could end.

Still haven't had a chance to check out Firefly. I'm scared of getting addicted to another show. I've got so much on my plate. On the other hand, I'm hoping to get a netflix account in a couple of months when I buy a laptop. So I could check it out then and then watch it all in a marathon. hmmm...

Well you'd only have a season's worth and a movie to watch if you do decide to check it out. *cries* (Cause that's all there is.)

I haven't got into the fandom side either, but I could happily watch it all again and again! I saw the film first, discovered the existence of Firefly and suddenly it all made sense!

Only discovered Firefly in January 2012, as it was never shown here in the UK. Absolutely love the show, as do my daughters, brother-in-law, in fact anyone within earshot.
Recommend any fan watches "Done The Impossible". It's a great documentary about the Browncoats by the Browncoats, including the cast, crew, and of course Joss Whedon. Lotta love and dedication.
Keep flyin'

Alan
